The Kirchdorfer was built with many challenges. My client requested a 14’ dining table when fully assembled, however they wanted the option of being able to break the table down into 4 independent tables as well. This would allow them diverse use, for entertaining friends & family.
We started with two 4’ X 4’ square tables setting next two each other. Then we added two 3’ X 4’ semi-circle tables on each end of the square tables put together. This created the problem of too many legs in the way, at the ends, for dining seating. Our solution was to make the two semi-circle tables, back legs be able to slide towards the center, when assembled together. It worked beautifully.
Each table is a finished piece of furniture on all sides. All components lock together, with discreet hardware, when fully assembled. All legs have small antique casters, for ease of movement.
All materials are solid sapele, an exotic wood very similar to mahogany. The finish consists of stain color, clear sealer and built up lacquer.
